Obama agrees to display burning crosses on White House lawn.

Washington, DC - In his latest attempt to mitigate years of partisan acrimony, President Obama today agreed to Republican requests to display burning crosses on the north lawn of the White House.

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced the agreement during a press conference Saturday afternoon.

"President Obama remains open and eager to broaden consensus and the president's goal has always been to elevate the debate, said Gibbs. "We think this historic agreement with Republicans to burn crosses on the White House lawn for the duration President Obama's term meet or exceed those goals and shows that it is possible to reach 100% agreement with the opposition party on the important issues of the day."

The Obama administration had been searching for a way to find common ground with Republicans after Democrats failed to garner any significant Republican support for the stimulus program that passed earlier this year and most likely will attract no Republican support for Obama's initiative to overhaul health care. Various ideas were discussed but according to administration insiders it was decided that burning crosses in the north lawn would likely attract the most Republican support for a bipartisan agreement..

Republicans reacted with enthusiasm and were hopeful that the agreement would set a new tone in Washington.

"To date it 's been a one way street and I'm encouraged that President Obama has agreed to allow the crosses to burn on the north lawn of the White House. President Obama has shown that he knows his place and that he has deference for the history that those of us in the south revere so deeply" said Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) of Georgia .

Neo confederate and Obama heckler Rep Joe Wilson of South Carolina was ecstatic stating that "this is a great day for white separatists and secessionists everywhere. We tried in vain to negotiate that the Dixie Rebel flag hang in one of the maple trees as the crosses burned on the north lawn.. We also tried to negotiate a permanent installation celebrating slavery, similar to a manger scene, but the White House grounds keeper kind of put the kabosh on that one. But all in all we feel real good about this revenue neutral, bi partisan agreement."

More regressive douchebaggery.

First it was a shit storm about money for mice and trains running to the Bunny Ranch being funded via the stimulus bill...then it was death panels, now it's "czars." (and in between those I listed...dozens of mini shit storms)

The problem with regressives is their selective amnesia...and/or thinking the general public is as stranded in deep space ignorance as they are. The rank and file American ALREADY KNOWS regressives lie or misrepresent with impunity. Who are they trying to fool?

Where were these idiot sticks for the last 40 years? Ever remember hearing a regressive complain about a "czar" before Obama showed up? Ever?
Show me where Obama ever complained loudly about Mr Danger's czars and/or promised he wouldn't hire a team of advisers to help coordinate policy in the White House. Since when does every adviser to the president need to be vetted by the Senate?

Hey...dipshit regressives...rather than bitch the day away...why not step up with a real solution to a real problem?

Slicing and dicing the regressive lunacy........

Obama did appoint Cantor’s other “czars.” But as even Fox News has admitted, the practice of presidents naming high-ranking advisers goes “back as far as FDR, and maybe further.” In fact, the debate over the role of unconfirmed Presidential advisers reaches back to 1832, with critics accusing President Andrew Jackson of running a “Kitchen Cabinet” in place of the official one.

President Bush was also a fan of czars, although Cantor wasn’t complaining about them at the time. In fact, the “Sudan czar” is actually the U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan, and during his tenure, Bush appointed several people to hold that position. Bush had so many czars that in 2007, satirist Andy Borowitz suggested the White House needed a “lying czar” to “oversee all distortions and misrepresentations.”

Tea baggers rally to protest government run government.

Columbia, SC - Thousands of protesters filled the west lawn of the South Carolina State Capitol on Friday in the largest rally against government run government since the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.

Waving Confederate flags and misspelled handwritten signs imploring "gubmint to stay out of our gubmint" the demonstrator's anger was palpable.

"The founding fathers never envisioned government run government" said Cletus Drexel of Clover, SC. "Right now, the government is creepin' to a place where government bureaucrats in D.C. are running government and making all of government's major decisions on behalf of the government. The government is sucking government dry with out-of-control spending and racking up huge deficits. It ain't right."

The atmosphere was frisky and irreverent at times, with signs and images comparing Uncle Sam to Hitler and also depicting Uncle Sam as a version of Heath Ledger's Joker character in The Dark Knight.

The rally was best summed up by Hattie Litchfield of Clemson, "There are 6 million people here today that feel the same way I do. We're all here to show support for getting the government to stay out of our governmental affairs. We don't need the government interfering in the life of the government any more than my ole' coonhound needs more fleas."

Obama and Tort Reform

So Obama throws a bone to regressives by broaching the topic of tort reform...while only about 1.5% of health care costs can be attributed to "frivolous" law suits. Another sideshow and irrelevancy...

Regressives love to use Texas as a model for tort reform. Last year, health care costs rose almost 6x faster than wages in Texas. This year it's just under 5x, slightly below the national average and no better than many states without tort reform. Over the last 15 years or so 41 states have "reformed" their tort laws and health care costs have continued to soar.

Please explain to me how tort reform helps to measurably drive down the cost of health care. Where is the evidence that it has?

Instead, why not focus on "fee for service" health care arrangements that encourage/incentivize waste and excess?

Years from now we'll look at fee for service medical care much like we view blood letting today.

Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act...

Is it just me...or does it seem little strange that we in the "Land of the Free" have to pass a law that permits our citizens to travel "freely" to Cuba?

2/4/2009--Introduced.
Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act - Prohibits the President from regulating or prohibiting travel to or from Cuba by U.S. citizens or legal residents or any of the transactions ordinarily incident to such travel, except in time of war or armed hostilities between the United States and Cuba, or of imminent danger to the public health or the physical safety of U.S. travelers.

Why are we so confused about marijuana?

Great article

Could it be that, at long last, the Great Pot Moment is upon us?

The planets are aligning. First and foremost is the recession; there’s nothing like a little cash-flow problem to make societies reconsider supposed core values. The balance sheet couldn’t be clearer. We have the so-called War on Drugs, the yawning money pit that used to send its mirror-shade warriors to far-flung corners of the globe, like the Golden Triangle of Burma and the Colombian Amazon, where they’d confront evil kingpins. Now, after 40 years, the front lines have moved to the streets of Juárez, where stray bullets can easily pick off old ladies in the Wal-Mart parking in El Paso, Texas, even as Mexico itself has decriminalized pot possession as well as a devil’s medicine cabinet of other drugs. At the current $40 billion per annum, even General Westmoreland would have trouble calling this progress.

Compare that with the phantasmagoria currently going on in California, where the legal medical-marijuana dispensaries ask only a driver’s license and a medical letter attesting to some vague ailment—insomnia will do—to begin running a tab at a state-sanctioned, 31-flavor dispensary. Somehow, even with many medical-marijuana outfits advertising “validated parking” and “happy-hour specials,” Western civilization as we know it has not tumbled into the sea. In November 2010, initiatives are expected to be on the California ballot to “tax and regulate” (i.e., legalize) marijuana altogether. Taxing the state’s estimated annual 8.6 million–pound, $14 billion pot crop (more than any amber wave of grain, high-fructose corn syrup included) could bring as much as $3 billion to $4 billion in revenue, enough to buy a couple of B-2 bombers or, failing that, keep a few libraries open an hour more a day.

Doug Casey rips "Baby Bush"

I subscribe to Doug Casey's reports and they are always quite informative. This article is more fun than a barrel of chimps...and asks the $64,000 question: "Was Mr. Danger the worst president in history?"

I’m forced to the conclusion that what “conservatives” like about Bush is his style, such as it was. Because the only good thing I can recall that Bush ever did was to shepherd through some tax cuts. But even these were targeted and piecemeal, tossing bones to favored interests, rather than any principled abolition of any levies or a wholesale cut in rates.

Is it possible that Bush was actually the worst president ever? I’d say he’s a strong contender. He started out with a gigantic lie -- that he would cut the size of government, reduce taxes, and stay out of foreign wars -- and things got much worse from there. Let’s look at just some of the highpoints in the catalog of disasters the Bush regime created.

Thousands left homeless as tea partiers return to find their trailer homes missing.

Tulsa, OK - Thousands of members of the Tea Party Express were left homeless as they returned home from the nations capital on Sunday and found their trailer homes missing.

Early reports indicate that as many as 50,000 trailers went missing including entire trailer parks in some areas of the country..

Members of the Tea Party Express, named "tea baggers", who had traveled to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday to protest President Obama's flirtations with socialism, communism and Hitler mustaches were shocked, angry and confused to find their homes gone.

"I told Daryl before we left that we should take the wheels off our house before we leave, I just had a real bad feeling" said Letty Durban of Barlow, Kentucky. "They even took the couch in the driveway where Daryl and I would eat supper. I'm just devastated."

"I don't understand it" said Blaine Beckham of Spavinaw, OK. "we had a broke down single wide and our neighbors had a double wide yet they took ours and left theirs. It don't make no sense. My pit bull loved laying in the dirt underneath the house eating neighborhood dogs, now I don't know what he'll do."

Clyde Drexler, manager of The Shady Oaks trailer court in Brunson, SC returned home to find all 50 trailers in his court missing. "We've got a 150 homeless in my trailer court alone, 650 if you count the cats. Even though the federal government is not authorized by the Constitution to help anyone we will ask them to see about getting the FEMA trailers that went unused after socialist New Orleans was supposedly hit by hurricane Katrina."

At this time it is unclear how thousands of trailers have gone missing. However, there is speculation among tea bagging insiders that this may be the Obama administration's attempt to silence and intimidate the Tea Party movement.

One prominent tea bagger who asked that their name not be used said "obviously this is the work of one of Obama's unelected socialist-fascist communistic czars.. We have reason to believe that this czar redistributed our trailers to ACORN workers as pay back for helping Obama steal the election. I have no doubt whatsoever that there is an ACORN guy, right now as I speak, sitting in my living room on my favorite lawn chair, drinking my PBR's and looking at the naked photos of my sister/fiance I keep on the coffee table."

Hey Michelle! Where are the 2 million tea baggers?

So...I'm just killing some time and head over to Michelle Malkin's blog hoping to get her take on the tea bagger express talking place in DC today...

She claims ABC says there were over a million tea baggers in DC...and then says this...

Activists were derided as amateurs who couldn’t turn out a crowd. Then they were smeared as corporate shills. They were criticized for not having a coherent message. Then they were mocked for ideological single-mindedness. They are resented by professional strategists who accuse them of organizing empty protests that won’t translate into electoral gains. But the movement has given birth to a new generation of movers and shakers who have rejected establishment partisan politics for nimble, Internet-facilitated, issues-based advocacy.
Hey Michelle...where is the link (proof) that tells us that there are 2 million "movers and shakers" assembled?

GOP: "We're all tea baggers now!"

Geez...what's up with the "Debbie Downer" GOP strategists? What in the world is wrong with a few Hitler signs, swastikas, demands to see birth certificates or bringing a few guns along to listen to the President? Whatever happened to the healthy admonition to "be yourself?" Why not let the party faithful express themselves without all the over anal-ysis?

Boys will be boys and tea baggers will be tea baggers. Just accept that the GOP base is "different" and roll with it.

If McCain would dress as an old school Mexican desperado-type...screaming to see Obama's birth certificate while donning 2 belts of bullets chris-crossing his chest...firing his six gun into the air with one arm...and holding an Obama as Hitler sign with the other he'd win every 2012 primary in the South....and a few militia states like Michigan...Idaho and Oklahoma in a landlside.

Rather than resist...it's time for the GOP bigwigs to listen to and embrace their constituency!

But top Republican strategists and many party observers also worry about the impact that the most extreme protesters might have on the party's image, including those who carry swastika signs or obsess over the veracity of Obama's Hawaiian birth.

Mark McKinnon, a former adviser to Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and other Republicans, said there is an "opportunity for Republicans" to tap into legitimate fears about an overreaching federal government. But he said that "right-wing nutballs are aligning themselves with these movements" and are dominating media coverage.

"It's bad for Republicans because in the absence of any real leadership, the freaks fill the void and define the party," McKinnon said.

Crackpots are the face of the GOP? Where would anyone get that idea?

Some are now just getting around to figuring out that the inmates/whackjobs run the GOP asylum?

This is too funny!

“Unfortunately, right now the Democrats generally get defined by President Obama, and Republicans, who have no clear leadership, get defined by crackpots — and then they begin to define the Republican Party in the mind of the general public.”

Turn on the TV, and you see what he means.

Here’s Orly Taitz, insisting that the commander in chief was born in Kenya. There’s a flock of town hall protesters, waving photos of the president in a Hitler mustache. Former GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin warns darkly that Obama is planning “death panels” for senior citizens. Georgia Rep. Paul Broun equates the president’s plans with “Nazi” policies. Ohio Rep. Jean Schmidt — last heard calling John Murtha a “coward” — tells a birther: “I agree with you, but the courts don’t.”

And then, in the midst of all the catcalls, hand-held signs and “I’m not listening” BlackBerrying, Wilson interrupts Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress by shouting, “You lie!”

“The president was helped more by the optics of House Republicans than by his own speech,” says former Rep. Vin Weber (R-Minn.). “It’s not likely to do any long-term damage, but they need to be very careful how they oppose this president.”

PoliFact

The best argument that we find that health reform would help illegal immigrants is that some might be able to purchase the public option -- if it passes, and it might not -- on the new health insurance exchange. They would purchase that at full cost. Obama's said "the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," which Wilson said was a "lie." Actually, Obama can make a pretty thorough case that reform doesn't apply to those here illegally. We don't find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama "lied." We rate Wilson's statement False.

Question of the day: Who is more paranoid...Michelle Malkin or David Berkowitz?

More "left wing" indoctrination concerns via the Queen of Quack

"Well, they’re at it again, along with liberal philanthropists, bloggers, and the Viacom conglomerate — launching a new initiative in conjunction with President Obama’s education campaign"

OH MY! Run for the goddamn hills!

Press release for "Get Schooled"

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Viacom (NYSE: VIA and
VIA.B) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with initiative partners
AT&T, Capital One Financial Corporation and NYSE Euronext, today launched Get
Schooled with a national broadcast and an education conference at the
Paramount Pictures lot. The five-year initiative aims to generate greater
awareness and engagement in addressing the nation's education crisis and to
offer practical resources and support to students.

"We couldn't be having this conversation at a better time," said Bill Gates,
Co-chair of the Gates Foundation. "The education crisis is damaging our
ability to compete in the global economy, and we need to do more to engage all
Americans - from policymakers and corporate leaders to families and young
people - in our efforts to support students in completing their education and
achieving their dreams."

The Get Schooled initiative also announced today the results of a poll
conducted by The Winston Group showing that an overwhelming percentage of
Americans believe that the United States is lagging behind other nations when
it comes to the quality of education. Eighty-one percent of survey respondents
said that they do not believe that the United States has the best public
education system in the world. Eighty-nine percent believe that if American
students are not receiving as good of an education as their overseas
counterparts, it will have a negative effect on the American economy.

"We are committed to raising awareness and, even more importantly, to
converting that awareness into action," said Philippe Dauman, President and
CEO of Viacom. "Improving the workforce readiness of America's upcoming
generations is a business imperative. By 2020, our nation may be short 14
million college-educated workers, and the trends are moving against us. The
cost to the U.S. economy of students unprepared to enter college and the
workforce is estimated at close to $4 billion dollars annually in lost wages
and remedial education costs. But the long-term cost is exponentially
greater."

From 2006 to 2016 there will be more than two million new jobs created
requiring at least an associate degree or postsecondary training, according to
the New Democratic Leadership Council. However, the reality is that two-thirds
of American ninth graders will not be prepared for college within four years,
and half of those who actually go to college will never earn a degree.

"Investing in a well-educated workforce may be the single most important thing
we can do to help the U.S. remain a leader in the global economy," said
Charlene Lake, Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Chief
Sustainability Officer for AT&T. "If we come together as business leaders,
policymakers, parents and as a community, we can ensure that today's students
have the skills and knowledge for meaningful careers, and that American
businesses have a deep and diverse talent pool from which to hire. AT&T is
proud to be a partner in Get Schooled."

Price of tin foil hats skyrocket as demand soars.

New York - Tin foil hat prices struck a 12 year high Friday, breaching 3 dollars in New York, after it was confirmed that President Obama will give a speech to US students on September 8th.

The Association of Tin Foil Hat Manufacturers had said in its August report on Thursday that the tinfoil hat market may be sending a message that the number of Obama conspiracy theorists is multiplying rapidly.

"Markets are currently in a phase of identifying new conspiracy theories and our Association may be making another upward revision to demand for the next 10-12 months " said tin foil hat analyst Per Abrams. "We haven't seen a price hike like this since the Clinton's allegedly killed Vince Foster over a decade ago."

Demand for tin foil hats began to surge after President Obama's inauguration in January. Since then tin foil hat prices have climbed steadily.

The latest rise in prices comes amid fears that President Obama will attempt to indoctrinate students with Communism, Fascism, Socialism, Liberalism and Islam during his 15 minute speech to students on Tuesday.

Reactions to the price increase were mixed. One mother from Hemmingway, SC said "I'm not happy about the spike in prices but I will not be sending my little angel to school September 8th without her being fully protected. What kind of parent would I be if I sent my child to school without her tin foil hat?"

More typical reaction came from a man from Lynchburg, TN saying that "Like most Negroes, we all know how shifty this President can be. This manipulated price increase is outrageous. It's just another attempt by the Kenyan in Chief to make it more difficult for ordinary Americans to protect themselves and their children against liberal fascist socialists and their communistic ideals."

Ben & Jerry's new ice cream "After Birth" celebrates conservative birthers.

New York - The Vermont ice cream maker Ben & Jerry's has released a new placenta flavored ice cream named "After Birth" to show the company's support for the conservative "birther" movement.

The so called birthers are conservatives that question the legitimacy of Barack Obama's presidency claiming that Obama was not born in the US and thus ineligible to be president. Many birthers are unsure if Obama actually exists and have demanded that Obama produce his placenta to prove he is actually alive.

Earlier today a company spokesman explained that "we want to raise awareness of the conservative birther movement by creating another unique ice cream flavor that combines the highest quality fudge, pecans, and human placenta."

As of 4PM this afternoon it was reported that most stores in Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina and Kentucky had already sold out of every pint of the new flavor.

"God bless the ice cream makers!" said one customer of Morgans's Grocery in Adairville, KY. "When I looked at this new birther inspired ice cream in my bowl I'll be damned if I didn't see the words 'Jesus says Obama not president' plain as the nose on my face!"

Memo to regressives: Look up the big words in a dictionary before you try to use them in a sentence.

"indoctrinate": to instruct in a doctrine, principle, ideology, etc., esp. to imbue with a specific partisan or biased belief or point of view.

It's official...the inmates have taken over the asylum. Obama wants to speak to students on Sept.8th...and wing nuts are blowing a gasket. "HITLER!"..."JUNIOR LOBBYISTS!"..."BROWNSHIRTS!"..."INDOCTRINATION!"

GEEZUS! H!! can it possibly get any more imbecilic? WTF!?
Honestly...each day it gets loonier and loonier. And what is frightening...the rank and file regressive being spoon fed this nonsense ACTUALLY BELIEVES IT!

OK...lets see how Obama plans to indoctrinate our kids next week...

In a recent interview with student reporter, Damon Weaver, President Obama announced that on September 8 — the first day of school for many children across America — he will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of education. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens."
Got that? Asking students to set educational goals...and taking responsibility for their own learning is now considered by the inhabitants of wingnuttia to be a communist plot to create Stepford Kids.

Think about it: now regressives equate working hard, taking responsibility for your own actions and applying yourself in school with Communism and Hitler. Asking kids to study and be responsible is now "partisan." It's just fucking deranged!

Where were these lunatics when Nancy Reagan wanted to indoctrinate our kids with "Just Say No?"

Oh wait...what's that you say? You say the President of the United States of America can't be trusted with your children? Are you fucking serious?

The investigators carried out this study by recruiting 2035 female volunteers from the TwinsUK registry aged 18-83 years. All completed questionnaires detailing their general sexual behavior and functioning, and a validated questionnaire on emotional intelligence. The research found a significant association between emotional intelligence and the frequency of orgasm during masturbation and intercourse. This led to the conclusion that a high emotional intelligence level contributes to the ability to achieve orgasm more frequently.
